When our group of four (Amy, Perry, Sam and Faye) in our media class filmed our Preliminary Exercise, we thought about the use of Camerawork, Mise en Scene, Editing Techniques and Sound Techniques. Amy and I,was behind the camera filming, finding locations and help edit the shots for our exercise to last thirty seconds to one minute.
In my opinion all the shots for our exercise were steady and in focus because the camera was on a fixed tripod at the right length for Faye and Perry so it is a right match (eye line match) The first couple of shots, we focused on the camera height and the correct position of each shot. When we used shot reverse shot, in a different location we used an eye line match, and a close up shot to show that the camera is focused on them. It was easier to get the eye line match correct for the shot reverse shot because they were all close ups, but it was difficult to get it correct when doing the corridor shots with Faye walking towards the camera but we are sure that the height and the position was adequate. Each subject was clearly visible because we focused on each person to get a good effect. I would change a couple of shots because of the use of lighting in the coommon room. In my opinion it was too dark when we were using a high angle shot to show Faye and it was diffult to see her facial features.
For our editing, there are jump cuts to show a change of location from the corridor to a different corridor and then the common room. In addition and from my perspective, the shot reverse shot sequence was very successful. This is because we did it twice from perru's face to Faye's face, but when we edited the shots, there was a smooth transition. In my opinion I am very weak on editing but I believe that the editing was good.
In some shots, the dialogue can be quiet because of background sound in the school and people talking over our action. We can correct this with editing. As I have metioned before, the lighitng in some shots was dark but we did not have any lights on in the shot. The background is appropiate because it fits in with our scene in general.
Overall, as a group we all had roles and we paricipated as a team. No one was left out, and we all enjoyed ourselves, considering our exercise had to be thirty seconds to one minute.

A really thorough account of the process and what worked well. You need to upload the edited video
